Security CHAINWIRE GATES
WE MANUFACTURE AND STOCK ROLL TOP AND 3-BARB CHAINWIRE SECURITY GATES
Standard Chainwire Security gates are 1800mm high of chainwire mesh + barbed wires. Generally overall height of a standard chainwire security gate with, 3 strands of barbed wire, is 2310mm. Our chainwire gates are available in different widths for single or double gates, PVC black or green infills, and matching powder-coated frames. All chainwire gates come supplied with either a chain, drop bolt or shoot bolt for locking the gate, our gate prices do not include chainwire gate hinges which are dependent on post size.

CHAINWIRE DOMESTIC GATES
Chainwire Domestic gates come in a range of heights (900, 1200, 1500 & 1800mm). With various widths, there should be a gate to suit your application, from single to double gates. Our domestic chainwire gates are typically manufactured from 25NB galvanised tube to suit harsh environments.
Gates also come with PVC black or green infills and powder coated frame to match. All fittings are included, excluding hinges which are dependent on post type and size.

CHAINWIRE HEAVY-DUTY GATES
Heavy duty chainwire gates are designed for those applications which require a strong gate with or without the barbed wire. The frame is typically constructed from 32NB galvanised pipe with suitable heavy-duty posts and fittings.
Available heights at 1800mm high and various widths with the option of PVC black or green Diamond Fence Chain wire infill and powder coated matching frame. All fittings are included, excluding hinges dependent on post type and size.

CHAINWIRE COILS & ACCESSORIES
CABLE & TIE WIRE
Used in chainwire and rural fencing applications. Tie wire is available in 1.57mm and 2.00mm gauges. Cable/line wire is available in 2.5mm and 3.15mm gauges with Helicoil in 4mm gauge. All wire products are heavily galvanised or galvanised with black or green PVC coating.
BARBED WIRE COILS
Available in Hi Tensile at 1.57mm gauge or Iowa Soft at 2.5mm gauge. Coils range from 100M and 500M rolls. Stainless steel barbed wire is available on request.
WIRE ACCESSORIES
A wide range of wire ties, C clips and tools are available.
RAZOR TAPE
In areas where security is essential, Razor Tape, along with Chainwire Fencing, 358 Mesh Security Fencing or High Security Palisade Fencing, ensures maximum protection from vandals and intruders.
Concertina and Flat loop Razor tape have been developed to replace the standard barbed wire in its role to deter, obstruct and protect. Razor tape consists of a steel strip reinforced with high tensile wire and has spear-like barbs at close intervals.
Heavy duty clips form a concertina configuration with diameters from 550mm to 1500 mm diameter available. Razor tape long barb is also available for permitted uses. Concertina coils can be self-supporting and attached to existing barrier fences or used independently as a barrier line.
Flat loop tape is often attached in overlapping loops to pre-strung barbed wire and is particularly useful where the depth of the fence is limited. The more significant the overlap, the greater the deterrent.
CUT & STRAIGHTENED AND FORMED WIRE
Cut and straightened wire is used in many applications such as ceiling rods, pre-cut wire ties, florist applications and general wire working. Profence can supply a large variety of shaped wire forms such as clips, hooks, pins, and pegs.
- Wire Diameters from 2.5mm to 10mm
- Finishes – Standard Galvanised, Heavy Galvanised, Zalcote, Hard Drawn Low Carbon Bright, PVC Coated, Stainless Steel and Powder Coated

CHAINWIRE FENCING INSTALLATION GUIDE
chainwire faq’s
1. What is chainwire fencing
Chainwire (also called chainlink or cyclone fencing) is a mesh-style fence made by weaving galvanised or PVC-coated wire into a diamond pattern. It’s a versatile and cost-effective solution for perimeter control and asset protection.
2. What aperture sizes are available in Profence chainwire fencing?
Aperture refers to the size of the diamond-shaped opening between wires. At Profence, we offer a wide range of aperture options to suit different needs:
25mm and 30mm apertures with 2.50mm wire
40mm, 45mm, 49mm apertures with 2.50mm & 3.15mm wire
50mm aperture with 2.50mm, 3.15mm & 4.00mm wire
60mm aperture available in 2.24mm & 2.50mm wire for temporary fencing
We also supply specialty mesh apertures for tennis courts, golf courses, and other sporting enclosures. Whether you need tighter security or better visibility, we’ll match the aperture to your application.
3. What wire sizes and mesh dimensions are available?
We supply standard chainwire in 2.50mm and 3.15mm wire diameters, with a 4.00mm option also available for high-strength or site-specific requirements.
Fence heights range from 450mm to 3600mm.
We also supply specialty mesh types such as tennis court and golf mesh, designed for sporting and recreational enclosures. For temporary fencing, we offer a standard galvanised 2.24mm wire.
4. What wire options do you stock?
Protective Fencing offers heavy galvanised, PVC coated and fuse-bonded PVC options for increased corrosion resistance and longevity in harsh environments.
We also supply standard galvanised chainwire for temporary fencing where long-term durability isn’t required.
5. Where is chainwire fencing typically used?
It’s widely used in commercial, industrial, rural, and recreational settings—such as sports grounds, warehouses, substations, schools, and property boundaries.
6. Is chainwire fencing suitable for sloping or uneven ground?
Yes. Chainwire is ideal for sloping sites due to its flexible nature. The mesh can be tensioned to follow the contour of the land with minimal gaps.
7. Is it easy to install?
Chainwire fencing is relatively simple to install using steel posts, strainer wires, and tie wire or clips. Professional installation is recommended for large or security-sensitive sites. If you need help with connecting with a reputable installer, please call us on 1300 436 200 or email sales
8. How long will it last?
Heavy galvanised chainwire typically lasts 10–15 years.
PVC coated chainwire offers greater durability, thanks to the added surface protection plus aesthetic appeal, ideal for recreational or commercial use.
Fuse bonded chainwire is the most durable of the three, lasting well over 20 years with minimal maintenance.
9. What’s the difference between heavy galvanised and fuse bonded chainwire?
Fuse bonded chainwire is thermally coated with PVC for a more durable, corrosion-resistant finish. It outperforms dipped or standard plastic coatings in longevity and harsh environments.
10. Do you supply chainwire gates?
Yes, we keep a limited supply and fabricate custom gates to match your fencing.
Whether you need a pedestrian gate or a wide double-leaf gate for vehicle access. We offer custom sizing, a range of latching and locking options, and matching finishes (heavy galvanised, PVC-coated, or fuse bonded) to suit your fence. Sliding and cantilever gate systems also available.
11. Can I get everything I need for my fence in one place?
Yes, we’ve got the full system covered.
At Protective Fencing, we manufacture and supply all the essential components you need to build your fence, chainwire mesh, posts, rails, gates, strainer posts, clamps, and tie wire. No need to chase bits and pieces from different suppliers. It’s all here, all in one delivery.
