Stainless Steel 358 Mesh FAQs
1. What does “358” mean in stainless steel mesh?
358 refers to the imperial measurements: 3” x 0.5” x 8 gauge. In metric terms, that’s 75mm x 13mm apertures with 4mm wire.
2. Why choose stainless steel over standard 358 mesh?
Stainless steel 358 mesh offers unmatched corrosion resistance, especially in coastal or chemically exposed sites. It’s built to last and reduces long-term maintenance costs.
3. Where is stainless steel 358 mesh used?
It’s ideal for prisons, coastal utilities, defence, transport infrastructure, and any site needing long-term anti-climb protection in corrosive environments.
4. What grade of stainless steel is used?
We off both 304 and 316 stainless steel. 316 is known for its superior corrosion resistance, especially in marine and industrial environments.
5. Is stainless steel 358 mesh suitable for CCTV or surveillance?
Yes. The mesh's design ensures excellent visibility, making it perfect for surveillance areas. It doesn’t obstruct camera sightlines while providing high security..
6. Can stainless steel 358 mesh be used in architectural projects?
Absolutely. Its sleek, industrial aesthetic makes it suitable for balustrades, facades, and bridge barriers—combining form with function.
7. What maintenance does stainless steel 358 mesh require?
Very little. No rust checks, no recoating, minimal repairs. It performs with far less upkeep over time than coated mesh alternatives.
8. How does the cost of stainless steel mesh compare over time?
While it costs more upfront, stainless mesh reduces replacement, maintenance, and labour costs—making it more cost-effective in the long term.
