Fencing for parks and public spaces
Park fencing should support how people use the space. A boundary beside a shared path, a garden enclosure and a maintenance compound serve different purposes. Start by deciding whether the fence needs to define an edge, separate activities or restrict access.
Choose for the setting
Steelmesh fencing offers a range of profiles for public spaces. Parkway CycleSafe is a starting point for path-adjacent applications, while chainwire can be considered for larger enclosures. Review height, mesh profile and finish alongside the landscape design and council requirements.
Entrances deserve the same attention as fence runs. Identify accessible routes, maintenance vehicle access and connections to adjoining paths early. A neat transition at gates, corners and changes in level helps the finished installation work as a whole.
Before requesting a quote
- Provide a site plan showing the fence’s purpose and approximate lengths.
- Identify public entries, gate widths and maintenance access.
- Nominate the preferred profile, height, colour and council details.
- Include slopes, existing structures and replacement or staging requirements.
For more specific applications, see Cycle Paths, Sports Courts or Swimming Pools. Pool barriers and other safety-critical applications require their own specification.
